WASP - Customized, Flexible Web Site Technology

van Sluis Consulting has created a web site technology, WASP (Website in ASP) which allows the customer complete control over the content on the pages, and some control over the look and feel (layout and colors).

We will setup the initial site, and then the customer will create the texts and pictures (using a secure page), which allows the web page to be updated in real-time.

The pages you are looking at right now are created with this technology.
Here is a nice example (in Dutch): www.devulpen.nl And here is another example: Faribault Elks Lodge.

"Simple" website

This is a fairly simple looking website, however the power behind it is that you can modify the content and look-and-feel without being dependent on a webmaster or other technical person.

Don’t forget: you can get websites just about anywhere for cheap, however we call that “crack-ware”: just like drugs, you can get it for free or very cheap, but after you start using it you will get charged for on-going maintenance, which is more lucrative for the webmaster.

We rather deliver fairly simple sites for a really good price, and let the customer have most of the power.

Features

End-users have full control (via a secure page) over the following:
  • Text blocks
  • Headings (3 sizes)
  • Text color and background color
  • Border (and border size) around text blocks
  • Release and expiration dates (content will automatically show or be removed based on date)
  • Pictures
  • Links to other pages and websites
  • Links to email
  • Links to uploaded documents
  • Number of website pages
  • Navigation (2 levels deep) including navigation colors
  • Top logo and banner
  • Page background color or image
  • Website title
  • Website keywords (for search engines)
  • Text under navigation
  • Text on bottom of pages
  • Full text search on all pages

    Web Page Texts

This is where you define the text and pictures which will appear on the pages. You can add, update, and delete text, and select the color and border. Rather than delete, you can also “de-activate” text so you can keep the text but it will not show on the pages (but you can preview it).
Every text block can also have a start and end date. If today is not in that range, the text will not show. This is nice for monthly specials, of for future press releases etc.
You can define a small, large, or medium heading, the text, a picture on the left (use picture “empty.gif” to create an empty wide left margin), and the order in which the text appears on the page (“”Rank”—use 10, 20, 30 or 100, 200, 300 so you can later insert other texts if needed).
You can play with empty Heading and empty Text to format the page as you like it.
Text can be formatted in lists, and hyperlinks can also be included.
